2011: Rise of the Amplifiers

In the first year of our LoudSauce platform, there were over 1,300 pledges totaling $71,751 to help a variety of ideas reach over 9 million people across TV, billboards, radio, print and online. We are extremely excited to take it to the next level with our growing community of amplifiers in 2012. Here are some highlighted campaigns that helped define crowdfunded advertising in 2011.

One Man's Judgement Day Response Creates Internet Buzz

While radio hosts and a slew of billboards declared May 21st the date of the Rapture, a man from Greensborough, North Carolina took it upon himself to say what was on everybody else's minds come May 22nd: "That was awkward."

Targeted Ad fuels National Press, funds Mobile Billboards

Together 250 people raised nearly $10k to put ads on Boston train stations about dirty energy's influence on Senators. When the MBTA blocked the ad as "too political", Bostonians took to the streets with bicycle billboards, shifting opinion through local and national press.

Uniting NC shifts Statewide Dialogue on Immigration

In the wake of immigrant raids and controversial laws to curtail immigration, non-profit group Uniting NC agreed it was time for North Carolinians to extend a message of acceptance toward their immigrant neighbors. 259 individuals crowd-funded $3.5k for positive billboards across the state.

Censored Artist Received Flood of Support for Her Cause

After Canada's Harper government intervened to prevent environmental artist and activist Franke James from putting on her European art tour, Ms. James used LoudSauce to bring her art to the streets of Ottawa. For the month of November, Franke's art lined bus shelters in plain sight of the Parliament building, resulting in an outpour of press, petition signatures and political support of Franke and censored artists.

Occupy Movement Reaches Millions through TV, Radio & Print

While news pundits and journalists speculated and spoke disparagingly of the Occupy protest movement, 168 citizens banded together to air a message straight from Occupy Wall St protestors on national television.

99% Proposal in SF Chronicle

Responding to cynicism about the Occupy movement's objectives, Marti Roach organized a full page ad in the Chronicle to promote the 99% Solution policy proposal, which generated massive local media including a story on the local TV news.

A citizen of Seattle wanted to help promote Bank Transfer Day in progressive communities. Within a week, she produced and crowdfunded a radio ad that aired on talk radio stations.
